    Brake replacement

    G'day Guys,

So i know this has been covered a few times and i have read all the old threads.

But has anyone done a recent pad and rotor change and if so what did they use.
I am currently looking at DBA rotors but i am unsure on the pads thinking either bendix, brembo or EBC street pads.

I'm not to worried about dust from the pads.

    Any advise would be great.

    Cheers

Just did mine over the weekend for the first time. New front disks, new front and rear pads and front sensor (rear disk was well within specs). I went with genuine Landrover as I didn't have the time to fully research alternatives and dust doesn't worry me.

ive done mine twice in the 70k klms on the vehicle. first time using bendix 4wd, which i took out 17k later and replaced as they warped all 4 rotors.

second time, machined rear rotors and installed dba T3 4000 series fronts with DBA Xtreme Performance pads all round. very good pads, bite really well and great pedal feel.

I don't mind that standard gear, but i'm just looking for that bit extra due to towing requirements.

Cruiseh, I did look at those, did you machine the rotors the first pad change or just install new pads?

Where did you guys order from? brakes direct have been the cheapest ATM for rotors.

Now just trying to source a torque wrench that will hit 275Nm with breaking the budget, Is Bodsys brake bible correct for the front caliper bolts?

Used a Bosch OEM spec rotor and Textar brake pad
( made in UK ) on my brother inlaws Range Rover Sport 2012 . Same setup as the Disco 4 3.0 , so far so good nice pedal feel but I can say the Textar pads are dusty.
I recently did my front pads on my D4 , good to go

Will be interested to hear how you find these, I’ll be replacing mine in the next couple of weeks, and it’s this combo that I have looked at. Brakes direct seem to be the cheapest, but I’d happily stand corrected

supercheap auto are cheaper on the pads as I've just found and will price match if you show them a screen shot and they will match if you need them quicker.

think i'm going with DBA pads and rotors from the info given

DBA is a safe bet, I went with RDA and TRW pads which I'm happy with after 2k.
Spares box had a sale on brakes parts so check their prices.

I found my local hire place had a huge torque wrench that covered the right value. Just had to buy a cheap adapter 3/4 - 1/2 drive.

At the moment I’m on DBA rotors and Bendix pads, the 4WD heavy duty ones at the front have completely shagged the front rotors in about 65,000 kms, so I won’t be using those pads again.

i like the DBA rotors, but thought that even on the standard spec they could have used the passivisation coating. This is not the case so they’re all rusty now.

Most likely I will now go for the RDA slotted and dimpled rotors and TRW pad combo.

still in two minds whether to do the rear set at the same time.

I must say i have not been that impressed with Bendix brake pads.
