    We never got these.

An easy check would be to test the feed wire to the shutter, if it stays live you’re all good.

Working on the contactless module you are trying to get running - are you unwinding the can lines as per instruction? They won’t work coiled around each other with that device.
Hi Tombie, Yes the wires were not twisted as they ran through the contactless reader I had to bunch then up before and after it.
I have taken the taken the drivers side headlight out to have a look. Can you tell me where I might find the shutter feed wire that you mention and what colour it is. I was thinking I might be able to put a voltmeter probe into one of the pins in the headlight plug that I had to undo to get the headlight out.

Do the instructions say which canbus - HS or MS? Do the instructions state that it also works on earlier model D4s? If your headlights don't swivel and therefore no AFS module is fitted then it is possible that the high beam ON/OFF commands aren't sent on your (HS) canbus in order to avoid unnecessary traffic.

The RH high beam wire was blue with black stripe on earlier D4s. It powered both the shutter and the high-beam fill-in light. The LH high bean wire was blue with slate stripe.

Mine is the MY11 SDV6SE with bi xenon headlights, I did exactly as Scott describes, led light bar is fed from the lh headlight high beam wire to the relay.as this is closest to the battery and earth stud. No issues with light bar not working or not switching off etc.

    Hi Graeme,
No the headlights don't swivel and I cant recall any mention of a particular canbus HS or MS. The install instructions are from the Lazer lamps website and I have mostly used the video on this page and they mention splicing into the wires above the OBD port:-
    CANM8 Cannect Highbeam - Electrical & Wiring - Products.

The installation spreadsheet information is from the same page linked above. The only change was that I chose to use the contactless reader as I didn't want to cut into any wires near the OBD (as shown in the video).

I have just removed the drivers side headlight and found the blue black high beam wire that forum members say to splice into where it goes into the headlight plug (it looks greenyblue with black tracer to me). This showed a constant 12v when the main beam switch was put on, so I think will do some more research and learn how to splice into that wire (or similar on LHS as its nearer my batteries) and as Tombie suggested, go that route rather than the canbus one which may not be possible in my car anyway.

Thanks for your interest and support. Peter

    Thanks Eric,
This is the way I am going to go now. Its a shame that I got the wrong idea early on..... Should've asked earlier

I’ve wired my bi-zenon fitted MY14 in the same way as Eric and Scott. Using the blue with slate trace on the LH headlight as Graeme has indicated. All works fine without any errors.

To splice onto a wire I melt the insulation for 6-10mm, tin with solder then solder the extra wire to the tinned section. Then either wrap it in suitable insulation/liquid heat-shrink or kink the original wire to allow heat-shrink to be slipped over the join then heated to seal. Heat-shrink slipped over the join and a little further provides support to prevent wires later breaking at the end of the solder. I use dual wall heat-shrink as it has glue inside that seals the join from moisture.
