Only an ECU reflash completely resets the trip meters and fuel use algorithm. I believe it can be altered/ adjusted but that means editing the vehicles config file.

That just zeroes the trip meters, however to my understanding the car still remembers the "lifetime" average" and applies that to fuel usage calculated.
I zero trip A each time I fill and usually run on trip Auto to see how each drive is, then cycle through A and B to see usage for the tank and then long term use is B. I was on 9.6-9.8 for ages before my ECU was flashed, afterwards it went to 15l/100km. I rang Roo Systems about this and they told me what I just posted before. An ECU flash deletes all the long term fuel stored values and it starts again from scratch.
My indicated is now 9.8 - 10.0 and my calculated was around 10.3 to 10.6, I've since added a Rhino platform and awning and running AT tyres in lieu of HT, and it's sitting around 11.0 or so. I also rarely let the tank get below 1/4 empty on the weekly commute, so there's a bit of dead fuel weight there too.
All in all i don't really care about fuel usage unless i was planning a long remote trip and fuel stops. The car gets almost twice the mileage compared to anything else that's similar (which is what exactly?) and is a 100 times nicer to drive than most other cars.

To reset the long term average, have the average fuel consumption up on the display then press and hold the left button. From what I’ve seen, this is the ONLY way to reset the long term average consumption
I got this from reading the manual![]()

I had the same issue with my 2014 D4 about a year ago..
Then I noticed that one of the front hubs was hot ie likely the brake 'sticking on'
Took to Southern LR here in Perth who replaced the brake switch.. and sorted, fuel consumption back to 9 (as you say)
Hadn't thought of that Geoff, thanks...although I haven't noticed any hint of a brake being on, did you notice anything in the way it drove? I've got mine booked in for a service and trans oil change plus a end-of-warranty checkover at Land Rover in Bunbury on Tuesday so I'll get them to have a look.
I do have a spare brake switch, thanks for reminding me:-)
