SDV6 / 3.0TDV6 Engine Number Location?

Hi just had the same issue at Regency ! Removing Drivers wheel heat shield and bending cleaning were you able to get a clear photo ? I have been given paper work which requires a clear photo

I just had the same thing happen at Regency Pk for my NSW bought HSE.
I came home ****ed off but searched on the net and was looking at removing the starter motor etc at home. Looking around and under the car I discovered taking the drivers wheel off and removing a heat shield and bending another (it bent back) I could see the section that needed cleaning albeit 2-300 mm in from guard.
So out with the degreaser and fabbed up an old broom stick with a rag taped to the end, I was successful after 4 or 5 goes to rub the crud off and see the numbers, win winhttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/icons/icon7.png . I would soak with degreaser then rub with the broom and wash off with high pressure garden hose.
I think I was lucky that it didn't have much crud over it.
The Regency Pk guy said he has heard it costing between 2 and 700 bucks for a mechanic to do it.

The engine number is on top of the manifold.
Under the cover. It’s accepted by Regency.

The plate on the inlet is there for the very reason that it’s impossible to see underneath.

Hi Guy's just a quick one, followed I think it was Fossickers recommendations on how to get at the VIN number on the block without removing starter motor, and he was right, cleaned it up & took some photos, hopefully should be ok, Sorry cant down load the photos

Sent numerous photos in of number on the Engine block, along with photos of the vin number by windscreen, to the email on bottom of failure sheet, next day got a nice email from the same inspector that all was good and to collect pass sheet the following day and pay the fee.

You can refit the tag, you snap the bases off and push it onto the new one

Gently prise the tabs up with a small flat blade screwdriver then tap them flat again and push back on - sorted.

I visited Lonsdale Inspection centre on Thursday and the MY2012 RRSport 3.0 purchased from a dealer in NSW - failed on several points. 1. Compliance plate/sticker missing or unreadable 2. Tint too dark. 3. Unable to sight the Engine number. Any help you can give me would be appreciated - especially location of the Engine number. I've been told it could be behind the starter motor - I can get to the Starter motor from underneath just unsure how to remove. Thanks JasonB
