FAULTS EVERYWHERE AND A WET FLOOR, IS THIS THE END FOR DISCO STU! - YouTube
Yes and no. The traditional pot metal thermostat housing was often a sacrificial anode in a properly designed cooling system. Cheap to replace and the first place to corrode.
in the 80s when Volvo introduced plastic bits in the cooling system the prevailing wisdom was replace the placcy bits every 7 years (and that included the radiator with the plastic end tanks). Still applies really. Once you get out past there it’s just risk management.
so went online and bought a valve block front for D4 as described in the advertisement on ebay and this is what came through in the bottom of the pic. they assure me its for a D4 and its a valve block for the front but obviously different to the original fitted on top. what's going on here. I had not removed the old original one on mine so did not think twice before ordering (my mistake). Can someone confirm there are only two valve blocks for the D4 (front and rear) or is there a 3rd. Could this be the rear one? I have returned item and been awarded a refund but trying to figure out why the difference?
Mine (original) seems to be part number RVH000095 whereas the new replacement one was RVH000046 - help please
ignore the screwdriver just used to help with taking the pic
That would be the valve block for the reservoir.
The rear valve block looks like the front one but has smaller orifices to slow the air as the front of the car is heavier.
Ordered a few more bits and pieces today:
New winch, testing the PDX Ultra for weight and performance.
Ultra hook from Factor 55
And my intercooler is shipping this week.
Problem will be installing it all, I’m all thumbs at the moment!!!
Thumbie update:
Had the dressing changed today.
Healing well, definitely a bit shorter than original spec.
