Fitted the PTT button on the steering wheel. Does anyone know how the air bags deploy? Is this dangerous?

I would definitely move it from there mate....you don't want anything between you and the airbag that's not there by design. That's my opinion and I have worked in crash safety for over a decade.

    Upper tailgate wouldn’t open…
Actuator could be heard trying, but only released the locking mechanism to the first click.
Eventually, after standing on one leg, holding tongue out to the left, muttering magic swear words, and gentle coaxing while pressing the key fob, it opened.
Disassembled the lower tailgate, and all seemed fine except that the locking mechanism was full of hard sticky white greasy crap. Cleaned this out, a squirt of silicone lubricant spray, and all is working fine now.

Next job is to arrange bits for installation of manual release cable.

    Early update:

Last Monday, I drove down a steep, particularly windy piece of road (Known for its "Offs") in the rain and, without pushing too hard, I was very comfortable with the tyres.
Even the good woman commented on how the Disco seemed to ride better. Now, for Helen to comment on anything vehicle related, is a rarity.
