Actuator could be heard trying, but only released the locking mechanism to the first click.
Eventually, after standing on one leg, holding tongue out to the left, muttering magic swear words, and gentle coaxing while pressing the key fob, it opened.
Disassembled the lower tailgate, and all seemed fine except that the locking mechanism was full of hard sticky white greasy crap. Cleaned this out, a squirt of silicone lubricant spray, and all is working fine now.

Next job is to arrange bits for installation of manual release cable.
Just get a new one while it’s working and you can easily get in there. Your motor brushes are worn and it will stop working soon I’m sure.

    You’re right.
What’s the best place to get one?
Just the motor or the whole shebang (motor, cable, lock?

I got mine from the UK from one of the many suppliers over there. I got this part number FUG500010. I did get the Britpart version and it’s been fine for years, but I’m not always a fan of their kit.

Pre-COVID I bought this via express post to get it in a known timeframe - https://www.allfourx4.com.au/Upper-T...uine-FUG500010

Bought mine from rimmers about 3years ago, genuine unit. 80 bucks delivered. First one lasted 7 years, hoping the next one does the same.

Dropped the van back after a week down South. Nice run, car didn't break down.

Roughly 30,000k done now since the new HPFP in 2019, I'm starting to get a little bit of confidence back in the vehicle. It's reaching the point now where if it did break down again, I might not immediately set fire to it.

It enjoyed the time, as did we. Yesterday all of us had a nice drive home to celebrate.

Which tyres did you have on before?
