That tactic worked for the first two days, it was the second night that was the problem.

Checked the engine oil and tyre pressures today - everything was good. Then I plugged in the GAP tool and the dash lit up like christmas and I couldn't start the engine, there was a whole heap of databus fault messages - mostly with a U prefix. Had to take out the battery and do a hard reset twice before all came good again. The same thing happened on a second try of the GAP tool. After that all was normal again with no faults logged. Weird
I replaced the front cigarette sockets with USBs wired into the AUX battery along with my UHF and dash cam but I was a bit concerned that on a camping trip with fridge and lights and cameras and drones and phones and water pump and whatever else plugged in I might exceed the 30A of a single ABG-25 so I put in a second one with a couple of fused distributor boxes at the front and back.

I also installed some switches in the overhead console. The centre switch and separate LED replaced the traxide in-cab module. I was hoping to use a switch with an integrated LED but the LED would have to be separately wired in the switch and finding one I liked was impossible. The other switches control the winch isolator and the third is current unused but maybe spotlights or an onboard compressor in future.

What happened to my D4? Nothing! Waiting on a crankshaft position sensor to be shipped from Melbourne to Perth (the end of the earth) to get my car going again. Grrr.
Quick run from Whyalla to Burra.
Spending the weekend with friends at the Copper and Stone music festival.
