Initially there were other faults which went away almost immediately. so I cleared all faults but the only one to come back was gearbox fault
The EGR block off kit supplied by X8R stated that no programming necessary for for my model but following your advice ill get this issue programmed out hopefully. thanks

when I ordered the kit from X8R I had to supply exact model which is 2010 Discover 4 2.7. on there instructions it statesOur kit is precision machined; beware of welded parts that can fail. Our blanking plugs are fitted with Viton O-rings suited to the fitting environment, do not trust Nitrile seals.Land Rover Discovery 3 MK III [2004-2009] 2.7 (Diesel) TDV6 Land Rover Range Rover Sport [2005-2013] 2.7 (Diesel) TDV6 Jaguar S-Type [1999-2007] 2.7 (Diesel) TDV6
This kit is compatible with TDV6 2.7 models with the 10th digit of the Vin number 6 or 5. If the Vin number is 7 or higher the kit will likely fit but the MIL will remain lit to indicate an EGR fault.

Ok so I wondered about that. thanks for the info Have decided , after some research to take the kit off and return EGR to original Cheers
Good news it worked
Dropped off last Monday for the second replacement of timing belts on our watch. Phone call Tuesday morning and the RH Camshaft pulley was ready to expire. That eventually arrived Thursday late and due to other work booked in, they didn't finish it until just after lunchtime Saturday so I decided to pick it up this morning rather than make a special trip to town.
Mechanic wasn't there when I picked it up to confirm which brake pads he installed as the Akebono were not available to order in late December. Note to self: new brake pads better than previous so gently on the pedal...
Cheers, Dale

On Sunday morning I found my D3 had a flat cranking battery. Charged it up and it started straight away, however failed again at the next start attempt. Turns out the battery is now dead, and just on 2yrs old too. Looks to me to be caused by the redarc DC-DC charger remaining active after shut down and with a fridge left in the car on Saturday night its kept drawing power from the cranking battery. That night was all it took to kill the battery. Looking back on my battery trends (bluetoooth battery monitor) from my trip away at the start of Jan I could see the main battery volts taking a hit each night - but in those cases we where hooked to the main battery in my camper trailer so seems like there wasn't the same drawing down of power from the main battery as Sat night.
I changed the main battery 2yrs ago as a preventitive measure as I had a flat battery while we where camping then, but Im starting to think the issue of the DCDC charger may have been around then, but I didn't have the bluetooth battery monitors then so wouldn't have picked it up. Still had that battery in the shed so I've put it back in with no more issues.
I've sorted the DCDC charger now as for what ever reason a previous owner of my D3 had put in one of the old school redarc smart isolators, so just wired the DCDC charger to be powered from that.
