The poor audio from the aux was likely because you’d kept the rear audio input plug connected. I had to disconnect mine to get the aux audio to work when I did my CarPlay upgrade.
Anyhow, good work.

It loads straight into CarPlay/Auto but you can access this screen if no phone is connected or from a "home" shortcut within Carplay/Auto

That's probably what went wrong with the android replacement screen (it had other deal breaking issues for me also). But this one I left everything as is, rear aux input still intact and the aux audio from this unit is indiscernible from the bluetooth.
Cool - looks very similar to my own. The unit had a SWC learning function, that allowed the buttons on the wheel to be learned, like back/forward, and ‘answer’ etc
Looks fairly identical to the Navisoft that I bought from Cambo, but no doubt much cheaper.
Busy few days, in between work, SaPol Range inspections (Rifle club) and more work (!) I’ve managed to complete a few tasks on the D4.
Started with R&R a new radiator to replace the 12 year old unit which had started weeping on the LHS (not at the tank but where a tube is joined to the end).
That kept me going Tuesday from 8pm until 5:30am Wednesday.
New radiator and coolant now in play. For those interested I run Penrite Blue.
Wednesday was 40°c so another late start finishing bleeding the cooling system. Then onto the next job, plumbing in the new Transmission cooler. Most of the work completed and an early night (01:00am)
Thursday was back to work (Budget and 5 year plan was flavour of the day). Thankfully inside as it hit just shy of 43° and my workshop cooler has recently failed [emoji20]
20:30 headed back to the workshop (was only 32° by then outside) and replaced the transmission filter, did a flush (12 litres used) and buttoned it all back up. Penrite BMV used (second time I’ve used it without a single issue).
Quick test run around town, adding in a few laps of the hilly areas to load it up.
Stable temps
87°c Coolant
90°c Engine oil
72°c Transmission
Happy with that, tomorrow the van will be hooked up and off to Tumby Bay.
Whilst awaiting for transmission to cool I also managed to squeeze in a small repair to the van, reloaded a weekends worth of projies (300WSM 200gr Berger Hybrids for those that know), cleaned the ‘tool’ used to ‘send them’ on target and got the gear packed ready for the trip away.
Nothing like a relaxing week [emoji56]. It’s now 03:20 and I’m done for the day!
Want a laugh? Grasshoppr popped over this afternoon. I asked him to start the car while I fiddled with the Gap. I then proceeded to stop the car and re-start it because I didn't think it was actually running.
I forget how quiet a V8 is compared to the clatter of the TDV6!
Still reckon if I knew then what I knew now I'd have bought a V8.
I'll dig it up when I'm home next. I look heaps of photos so I'll do a write up of the process.
choices were Bosch or Harmon head unit. I knew I had Bosch from previous attempts to replace the screen but they also have different interface and came with different years so shouldn't be hard to work out.
