    Auto shift pattern change

I'm interested in what changes to the shift pattern you have found since Cambo did his thing. I've got a RRS SDV8 which has plenty of grunt but I would like the Trans shift pattern to be a bit better when towing my 2.6 T van. I'd appreciate your input Discodicky.

    Thanks in advance

Engine did not use one drop of oil, car turned 197,000 a few days ago. I use HPR5 oil.

Had absolutely no problems whatsoever during the trip.
On the Hwy's I sat on indicated 100 kph which was actually 96 kph according to GPS, but occasionally went higher when circumstances permitted....
Engine was sweetest in 7th at 1800 rpm/100kph and did it easily.

    Highlights re vehicle?
Being able to comfortably put in a few 5-600 klm days when necessary and get out of it without a sore back!
It eats long distances as many of you would know.
Enjoying the improved auto trans shift pattern after meeting with Cameron at Old Jaguar in Sydney and him doing his 'thing'.
Absolutely blitzing a fairly new LC200 'cruiser with c/van same size as mine going up a very long hill on Pacific Hwy east of Gippsland. It was raining, I was doing 90-95 and he had been right up my backside for some time being a real pain. I think he was wanting to show me how good his Toy was. As we came to the base of the hill he moved to the overtaking lane and I dropped back to 6th and accelerated. I had pulled almost 200 metres on him by the time we got to the top. He stayed behind and kept well away from me after that. I must stop being childish sometimes but I had something to prove... you'll understand I hope....as well, having Cameron's 230Kw and 700Nm helped me I think....

I'll need new shockers/air struts etc though, the constant pitching of car/van caused by the degraded roads will see to that.

A really great vehicle and a joy to own. I never cease to admire its strengths and capabilities.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Help - I’ve got the dreaded EPB screech and car is stuck at the shops. I can’t get it to release. Previously I’ve always got it to release one last time then adjusted it.

If I have to emergency release it what are my best case options after that to reconnect it and then try and adjust it hoping for no internal damage?

It’s on a bit of a hill currently pointing downhill.

Best tips please on this exhaustive subject. I do have an IID Tool if that can be used as a first step?

Update - Tried to unjam with IID but no luck only more noise. I have now manually released and now drivable again although with flashing park brake symbol. Next steps may be to follow the Disco Mickey guide on Disco3.

Not have any experience with this (so please do wait for others to comment), but did you try putting in reverse and talking a bit of load off the park brake first, then try to disengage park brake?

I did try that as soon as you apply reverse it tries to release the park brake.

It’s now driving with manual release waiting to decide on next steps. Definitely want to avoid hearing the noise again as can’t be good.

There wont be any damage especially if you have only had the banshee screech a few times, when you get home just try to apply the handbrake then release and likely it will work fine then don't use it until you can adjust the shoes.
Easy job that takes about an hour on the driveway at home.

Thanks I have adjusted many times but this episode totally caught me by surprise but it has been a while since last adjustment. It was not noisy.

The screech seems like teeth would be shredding off.

Now it is fully unloaded are you thinking it might self unjam itself? I might try the IID again first.

There is two commands on the IID does anyone know the difference?

The Unjam Procedure is in the Service menu seems the right one but there is another action in the Control I/O area around Position.

Position is either Latching or Mounting. Latching re-latches after a manual release (in theory) and Mounting drives the thing as loose as possible to give you slack to mount new shoes.

Ok so after using Unjam sounds like you need to use Latching to achieve a repair without opening the EPB box repair?

If Unjam works, then latch should work. I've only ever used the Mounting position. On the rare occasion I get the magic incantation right for it not to give me an E0 error and it actually works, I put it in the mounting position before I adjust the drums.

Thanks. Do you mean adjust the shoes?
