Absolutely nothing untoward has happened to our D4 since that damn EPB played up years ago which got fixed by the stealer. But, she's up for sale soon as I want a new car, but the Cook fancies another Prado! So there we go, off to the darkside although I'm not overly upset about that as I can't see the value in a new Defender and am not going to spend out on a Rangie.

SubscriberArrived home yesterday after 9 weeks with c/van to FNQ and Cape Tribulation.
Total klms 11,758 of which 96% spent towing the 3.0 Tonne van. Avge Fuel cons was 15.54 lphk (actual, not the trip computer) and just over $3500 in fuel.
Engine did not use one drop of oil, car turned 197,000 a few days ago. I use HPR5 oil.
Had absolutely no problems whatsoever during the trip.
On the Hwy's I sat on indicated 100 kph which was actually 96 kph according to GPS, but occasionally went higher when circumstances permitted....
Engine was sweetest in 7th at 1800 rpm/100kph and did it easily.
Highlights re vehicle?
Being able to comfortably put in a few 5-600 klm days when necessary and get out of it without a sore back!
It eats long distances as many of you would know.
Enjoying the improved auto trans shift pattern after meeting with Cameron at Old Jaguar in Sydney and him doing his 'thing'.
Absolutely blitzing a fairly new LC200 'cruiser with c/van same size as mine going up a very long hill on Pacific Hwy east of Gippsland. It was raining, I was doing 90-95 and he had been right up my backside for some time being a real pain. I think he was wanting to show me how good his Toy was. As we came to the base of the hill he moved to the overtaking lane and I dropped back to 6th and accelerated. I had pulled almost 200 metres on him by the time we got to the top. He stayed behind and kept well away from me after that. I must stop being childish sometimes but I had something to prove... you'll understand I hope....as well, having Cameron's 230Kw and 700Nm helped me I think....
I'll need new shockers/air struts etc though, the constant pitching of car/van caused by the degraded roads will see to that.
A really great vehicle and a joy to own. I never cease to admire its strengths and capabilities.

I like doing that to the boy racers near us who love to harass other drivers approaching a local roundabout. They sit right up your backside and weave around behind you as the single lane approaches it but then the road we're entering becomes dual lane... and down my foot goes as soon as we're around it.
I do it so quick the dick beaters haven't even thought about it and I'm away to the next roundabout a few hundred metres away before they can get anywhere near me.
That's one of things I love about the D4, a good responsive engine and plenty of pulling power as well.
Oh well, I expect we'll get where we're going in the Prado eventually.

Super ModeratorOne of the advantages of having a third pedal. I can get away much quicker than any auto. Of course with a stock 2.7 the advantage doesn't last long, but usually up to the metro area speed limit. By that point they've given up and dropped back by the next set of lights. Often they'll pull in behind, so I switch to grandpa mode and do the old "0-60 in a fortnight" at the next set.
I'll grow up one day. Just not today.
