This isn't a "Today" episode as it happened on Sunday, however it's still a "D3" episode.

Rushed out on Sunday morning to drive to the hospital to meet up with mum. Made a shocking attempt at a reverse parallel park into a very curved parking bay and got out to inspect my handywork.

I noticed the cover for the towing electricals was still hooked in top of the rear bumper (which is where I put it when charging) and the battery charging cables & adapter were hanging out of the white socket. The bits that dragged on the road looked a bit second hand, but nothing terminal (pun unintended).

Must have been in a hurry. Thankfully the anderson lead on the charger was firmly wedged under the garage door enough that the weak link was the anderson coupling.

Frustratingly, the Carplay unit has failed...

Big shout out to Cam (Cambo_oldjaguar) for his patience and advice in sourcing a replacement unit. Reconfirming his prowess as the resident expert! Can't wait to pull the entire dash apart again to install...

I'd ask $700, manual is online so no problem there.

Easy to do - in future just leave the tow electrics cover on the drivers seat and this will instantly remind you (until you start forgetting why you left the cover there). What happened to your D3/D4 today?

I did plug in the Gap tool and the only option I could find was to tell the system what type of battery was fitted. As I replaced the battery like for like and the CCF was already showing the correct type of battery from last time, I didn't need to change anything. All I had to do was re-set the clock and the auto-up on all the windows.
    Cheers .........

You do need to tell it you have a new battery else the BMS will charge it like it’s an old battery.

    It’s under the Service/Test menu > BCM-Body Control > Battery Replacement.

Except the D4 2.7 doesn’t have enough smarts.
It just needs to know battery size, and he’s gone like for like.
