    Turbo is $2k genuine Garrett

Even a body off and 20 hours labour @ $200/hr only runs to $4000

    Total $6k

    What’s the extra $4k

I'm sitting at my indie, he reckons $5~5½ k max, depending on who's doing it.

I had my primary turbo replaced about 18 months ago plus a couple of other minor items replaced while the body was off, I was quoted $7k for the job but the final price came in at $6200. From memory the turbo (garret) was $2750.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Depending on how badly it was “blown”, if any shrapnel has been sent into the intercooler you may want to replace this as well so this could add an extra $1K in parts (if using genuine parts).

Then hope the intercooler stopped anything getting into the engine.

Hate to think of the scenarios if it was a secondary turbo failure (which at low boost outputs to the primary turbo potentially damaging both).

I just went out and unlocked the car and the left rear door refused to obey. Ordered both left hand mechanisms off ebay .

Suggest you insist to your Indie that the outlet is replaced and try for a re-start.
These engines seem to be able to take getting hot; some engines seem to get away with it whilst others can't; due to design (lots of head bolts and so forth) I guess.

Lost count of the number of Jaguar V12 engines I've seen overheat (they have many, many, water hoses to fail) yet still survive, but that maybe 'cos the heads and block are all alloy thus expansion and contraction tends to be in "unison". Haaa!

    suggested/ advised lost all compression/ won’t fire
