On the Jaguar and Citroen TDV6 motor it is indeed the thermostat housing but it is modified for the Discos enhanced cooling system. Probably explains the inherent weakness.
I carry an old unbroken one in the car as the most likely spare I’d ever offer to a fellow Disco owner out somewhere more remote.
And no doubt the parts catalogue structure carried over, although LR never called it a thermostat housing so LR parts suppliers should know the correct name of the part.
I should have bitten the bullet and replaced with the billet version. Would then have given me a spot to drill and tap an additional temperature sensor.
Ugh, had my IIdtool taken from my car last night in Albert Park. If anyone sees one up for sale please let me know.
The plastic housing is known to split catastrophically after prolonged weeping so don't delay replacing it.
Thanks DB, I shot Gap an email. Hopefully they can block it from now on.
Replaced the coolant crossover / thermostat housing / water thingamajig today. Was quite a satisfying job. Bleed the coolant and went for a drive with what seems to be no further losses [emoji106]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7ca8f68001.jpg
