I get most of that but am surprised on the heated front screen but not the interference. Didn’t think too many in the country. I am interested in how you go on improving your reception although my direction for gps off road is an iPad mounted to a Kuda mount (thanks Tombie) which seems quite stable. I don’t have a heated front screen.
Your level of Ken in the deeper arts of gps is worthy. Looking forward to the tales of your exploits.

Finished it up, EAS back in normal mode and off for a drive.
Alignment is obviously out (that gets sorted at 14:00 today) however it still drives so nice! I remember now what it felt like when I picked it up from the dealer in 2011.
Smooth, supple and responsive. No more thuds over bumps.
Will give it a 1,500km test this weekend.
Tombie et al - what's your guestimate for the realistic time allowance for someone who's mechanically adept, but has never done the arms before, to do this themselves? I'm guessing 'about' a weekend, assuming no seized bolts etc? Any mega-specific tools required that I'm unlikely to have to hand? Thanks.

Took me a full weekend to do upper and lowers, then I did wheel bearings all round as well. I use nitrile gloves, and with the right tools there's less chance of injury.Quote:

Alarm switch under the bonnet decided to play up recently. Such a weak feeble sounding thing I thought it was the builders oik over the road until I saw the Discos indicators flashing. Couldn't find any fuse to pull so rang around a bit and got very helpful advice from the service manager, Gordon, at the stealers.
Start the car if possible in normal way and see if that works. It did. Then pull the connector off under the bonnet left hand side latch (L/H when looking at the engine) and insert paper clip into connector and tape in so it doesn't come out.
Worked a treat.
Thank goodness the noise wasn't anywhere near as loud as the car horn going off which it did once. :)
