Actually nothing untoward has happened on my D4 for ages and I don't really think it will... so as I had done far too many short runs while the Cook was hospitalised I decided to give it an early oil and filter change. So it got that after just 4K instead of the usual 10K
Bit over the top I suppose but oils cheap compared to engines. :)
AlanH.
PS. Plus it'll get another pre Winter polish although I normally, apart from washing it, only do that before Summer and Winter. The seats will get a bit of extra conditioner as well. I've got too much time on my hands.
I replaced both right side door actuators ....... need to do the front again as I damaged the cable releasing it from the door panel!!!
Oh and I replaced the lock barrel on the Passenger door .....almost forgot about that way to easy on a Disco
Fitted the XTM drawers in the back
Just waiting on the Traxide kit, LLams Kit, Roof rack, OP bull bar and the winch, Bloody ozpost from over east
Not quite today however the D3 is getting new front diff pinion and axle seals and possible LCAs this Thursday. My LR indie will check out the LCAs while has things pulled apart.
Wheel align on Friday.
Just got the Oil analysis results from the recent 172,000 klms service I did.
Interestingly, Magnesium and Molybdenum are up a bit compared to past 3 samples.
(oil age was 7,400 klms)
All others eg chrome, iron, lead, silicon, fuel, etc, etc reporting nicely at around <1 to 5 ppm
Mg: 9/18/recent 182 ppm
Mo: <1/2/recent 12
Am wondering if Penrite has changed their formulation a smidgen. (Enviro Plus C1. 5W30)
Have now changed to HPR5 after reading other's recommendations and considering engine klms.
Noticed the voltage has increased from around 14.1 up to 15.1 over past week.
Checked battery which is 4.5 yrs old and was around 80%, so replaced that as it was "due" at that age anyway..... and it is winter!
Voltage now around 14.9 over past coupla days so I reckon the alternator is due.
TR Spares NSW seem to be the best local pricing at $495; I think not worth trying the UK at that price.
Thanks for the thought, however Battery World here in Hobart ( I wanted a Yuasa battery) assured me they have done scores of Discos and modern cars which require the battery reset and they knew how to do it.
That was my first question to them when they offered to fit it on the spot for me.
You've raised a good point though.... I presume they did it properly.
The fella who did it had a "trainee" badge on his shirt, but he did sound and look knowledgeable!
I'll take it to a local LR Indie/friend who will double check for me.
