Yes the traction control is very good but the e locker takes it to another level. Versus the D2 ..my old one had a rear locker plus 2" lift and was v good off road. The D4 tho is better even with std tyres. The D4 system is more adaptive and the e locker works when needed so not requiring any driver attention.
Scratches..mmmm..just gotta ignore them😎. Our pristine ex shopping trolley has 3 major ones now inc a log that sprug up the other day denting the pass door. Wife's seen that one unfortunately😣
Oh well...it's a keeper and still insured for 15k more than I paid for it...ha ha
Cheers, Dale

Had the LCAs, front drive shaft and entire brake pack (rotors + pads) changed out this week.
Holy crap what a difference. The front CV joint was completely dry, and the car was generally driving like a pig - lots of thuds and clunks, massive brake shudder, and cornering like a boat.
Tight as a drum now - smoother, and quieter too.
170k out of the first set is pretty good going I think.

Can I ask, where do people buy their rotors and brake pads for a D4 (big brakes at front) from? Need to replace mine soon, and when I tow my van i feel a little front end shudder which i think is rotor issues. Thanks David

SubscriberI used these - twelve months and 20k km later they’re vibrating. Bosch Brake Rotor Pair Front BD1421
I combined them with the quite aggressive TRW Ceramic pad I got from the UK.
I can’t say I’d go this way next time but I can’t definitively blame these products yet either.
I’m still not sure what the issue is as sometimes I get a vibration at speeds over 70kph when braking, sometimes I don’t.

I have the same combination TRWGDB1898DTE[Adv Factors] and Bosch rotors.Ok around town but with about 50k kms on them, severe vibration on heavy braking from about 80kmh [Greenmount]
Last weekend replaced front and rear brakes on a mate's MY14 3.0 with RDA discs and pads from Napa[Coventrys] cost him about $530 trade.Waiting to hear how they perform.

						SubscriberWow. What are the odds
I think the TRW are probably too aggressive. When I look at the disc surface it’s obvious they’re definitely harsher compared to other cars and compared to the rears. Also the rotor lip at only 20k km means I estimate I’ll be lucky to get 50k km out of them. Mostly CBD use so it’s not towing etc as that’s only occasional.
I’d love to find a nice combo that works on the 3.0L other than genuine. Shame Akebono can’t be had. Many seem to use the RDA discs without complaint.

Thanks Guys but I have the big brakes at front 360mm. From what I have read there are no ceramic pads for these brakes. Only the rears, which are the same as D3 onwards.

SubscriberI bought mine from Supercheap Auto when they had a 30% off sale. I got DBA T2 front slotted rotors DBA2096S and DBA ‘Street Performance’ pads DB2203SP. The pads are ‘semi-metallic’ and seem to work well, with virtually no dust. They also do ‘Xtreme Performance’ pads DB2203XP, these are ‘Semi-metallic, carbon fibre friction material’.
