New Battery in D4
thank you everyone for your advice.
the car is running well with its new battery.
the car normally lives in Dubbo and is not registered on my Gap IID tool.
the tool would let me check faults and clear them, but not make changes in BMS.
thanks again.

Hi Tony, and there are two different requirements being discussed.
If like Jeff, you are having operational errors, the you must turn the ignition off, and lock the vehicle.
This process is intended to allow the computers to go through a full reset process.
Then once the Park Brake Light goes out, you can unlock and start your motor and the error should have reset.
On the other hand, if you had a flat battery and jump started the vehicle, and then drove to a battery supplier, there is likely to be no errors being displayed.
As such, you have no need to have to reset the on-board computers, so on arrival at the battery seller, you can turn the motor and open the bonnet, but do not touch the battery until the Park Brake Light goes out.
If you disconnect the battery BEFORE the Park Brake Light goes out. in this type of situation, when you reconnect the battery will you potentially have error messages displayed.
Small thing, but after some 8 years of ownership, I discovered a new menu in the dashboard. Whilst listening to something, press and holding the music notes button brings up a menu allowing changes to the automatic volume control and other settings.
The more you know.
It received a new Amaron LN5 starter battery.
