Had my very 1st go at fixing a flat. I’ve heard that it’s a good idea to get some the glue and add that to the patch to help vulcanisation. Thoughts?

It turned out to be a super easy job and only took me a couple of minutes. Hopefully it’s still up in the morning!

Well done. Please get it fixed properly asap.

Do not trust those repairs at speed or over time.

Really? I’ve heard of people having them for a year. These tyres are nearly worn out so I might put this tyre into spare

I don't think a tyre repairer would fix that one, too close to the shoulder. "Legally" there are rules they are supposed to follow e.g. not repair sidewall.

They’re only designed to get you back to a repairer. They’re not legal to use for long term repair. As has been mentioned, tyre fitters have strict repair rules to follow and use mushroom plugs, only installable by tyre removal and can’t push out unlike the temporary repair plugs sold for emergencies.

“Why did your new vehicle get written off Sir?”

“Well, I got a puncture, stuffed a plug in it and then to save a few hundred $$$ I didn’t get it fixed. When it blew out at speed I guess that was the problem.”

Good job and you don't need glue or anything else to help the process but they are a temporary repair and needs to be professionally done. As others have said the issue is whether the tyre shop consider that sidewall damage and hence wont repair it.

    Well done

Sorted out how to rotate my 2 keys and make sure they both stay charged up. Odd numbered days for "1" and even numbered days for "2". Simple
Actually, I'm wondering if they do get charged up???
