Yeah I'm going to order a new compressor, it looks like a painful job so not much point going to the effort of pulling it and not putting a new one in. But still the relief valve shouldn't have stayed open dumping the entire contents

Yeah it's on the high side, not internal, vents external. Yeah charging off pressures on a car isn't good practice, in just guessing that's what he did.
Shane in my experience they are kinda like a air compressor relief. They might open at 120 but they don't shut till much lower, say 90. The drama is the compressor would have still been pumping.
Ordered new idlers, accessory belt and water pump from AF, I figured after the originals have done 220,000km, it's time to replace as a preventative measure.
Agreed, josh, after the control arm saga with captive bolts and no room for spanners, everything else will be easy. I have to take mine to my local ac guru. Cools OK up to around 30 deg ambient, anything over 30 is a struggle, so I think not enough refrigerant in the system. Clutch works fine and no unusual noise from the compressor (yet)
