What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Desiccant and filters changed in the Hitachi after getting errors for deflation. Filters were hard. Took about an hour end to end.

Works as hoped, nice to have a clear dash with no cables all over the place.

How difficult was it to get out and back in?

Context : Some time in the next couple of years I'm looking at doing a clutch. Some procedures show the gearbox/TC coming out as a combo and some one at a time. I figured I might be able to manage one at a time by myself.

All work is done in my driveway on *big* axle stands, so I usually have enough clearance to get the thing down onto cardboard and slide it out/in. On all my other cars I've done clutches or transmissions the same way, usually with a combination of several jacks and ratchet straps. This looks like "a bit bigger" job.

The alternative is I pay someone to do it I suppose.

It's pretty easy, driveshaft bolts are a bit of a bitch. Think I put a jack under the box. Some of the top bolts are not super easy to get to, the only issue I had, was I squished the breather nylon tube when I pushed the transfer case back in. I had a good guide from here somewhere, I think JC helped out heaps

It mean I can stand on the open tailgate with dirty shoes or use it as a table if needed without the carpet getting trashed

IIRC it is a mat for under a bbq. Ultimate Flooring PVC BBQ Mat - Bunnings Australia

The one on the right is a "GME Commercial" - so is more than likely a "work" radio. I used to have two radios in my work Toyotas for the same reason. My employer/s had their own commercial radio networks across multiple mine sites.
    Cheers .........
