It got some discrete functional bling: APT front guard in raptor black...

Easy to fit, considerably meatier than I anticipated, the countersunk bolts are a nice detail to avoid trouble when its doing its job...
Hey Guys,
Slowly settling in to my new D4. Today was roof racks and a Rhino Batwing. Taking my time in the setup as I learn this car. Loving it so far. Next is a Kuda mount for my iPad with Hema maps thanks to Tombie.

Went to the tip today, just a short 30km or so round trip. Getting there and reversing the trailer was your typical uneventful, run of the mill journey. Jumping back in the car afterwards, the newly replaced engine started like a startled thoroughbred, but the gear selector dial seemed to be super glued in place. The return leg was courtesy of the good folk at NRMA. Again.
When I read "sadly, this is a common problem" on this forum, I am not sure whether I was comforted, alarmed or just disapointed. Certainly I don't recall the salesman listing the common failures I could expect when I bough the car new!! lol
Anyway, must be pragmatic and keep the spirits up. Just an amazingly comfortable and fastastic car when it's going well. Glad I have this forum to keep me sane-ish.
I am getting to know my indy pretty well. Nice bloke !![]()
With the intention of doing a charge/discharge test on the battery, I did my usual D3 trick of locking it with the bonnet open. When I disconnected the battery I was "subtly" made aware of the satellite siren in the drivers side box. "No worries" I thought, I'll just disconnect it.
I can't get the bloody thing to shut up. I've dismantled it as far as I can without smashing it to bits, and it's currently stuffed full of microfibre cloth, stuffed into a rubber glove and sealed up in a box in the garage quietly screaming away to itself. I figure its internal battery will go flat sooner or later.
Can't find it on any of the Disco wiring digrams. Can't find a pinout on the net. I figure the only reason it keeps going is it has Volvo stamped on it. If it was FoMoCo or Landrover it'd have died years ago.
My ears are still ringing.
Edit: Found it on the wiring diagram. Apparently if I'd disconnected it while the car was unlocked it'd have stayed silent. When I locked the car the CJB armed it and it's been upset ever since.
Cheers, Dale
