I think I fixed my aftermarket GPS, I disconnected the battery the other day and it lost it's position again, the 1st time this happened I panicked and fiddled with the settings and ended up having to take it to a car sound specialist as it is a CD/Radio/GPS/Camera combo, who reset it without charge. The 2nd time I left it a few days and it eventually found it's position. This time it hadn't found it's position after a good few days so I decided to programme in a destination to make it start thinking where it was and after about 1/2 an hour it was good again, although I did notice later in the rain it had jumped a few hundred metres out, but it did regain it's track so I'm calling that a win.

This sounds not right because aftermarket GPS signal system should be locked almost instantly with the accuracy of 2 - 10m distance in a clear day. In a very heavy cloudy day it might take up to 1 minute to lock but accuracy shouldn't be too far off 20-30m.

Not me, but a friend, just returned to Tas from a trip to Cape York in his 2005 D3 2.7 towing a large off road trailer. He disembarked the Ferry in Melb on a Sat morning and met his wife and kids at Cairns airport at 3.30 pm on the Monday, after dropping off the camper at the caravan park. Not bad!

With other Tassy friends (P38 R/Rover, Hilux Dual cab, Toyota Fortuna) they took the Telegraph Track on the way up. The Hilux blew the front diff, the Fortuna ended on its roof after dropping into a creek bed (driver brain fade), and was written off by the insurance company and left at Bamaga (after they got the engine going again).

The Disco and R/Rover performed faultlessly and after 10,000 klms got back to Tas a coupla weeks ago.
The D3 with Llams and factory rear locking diff and ARB air locking front diff now has just over 286,000 klms.
    Before: Ser 2a LWB, Ser 3 S/W, 1979 RR 2 door, 1981 LR Stage 1 V8 (new), 1985 LR 110 V8 County (new), 2009 RRS TDV8
    Now: MY13 D4 TDV6. "E" rear diff. Cambo's magic Engine & Auto Tune. 1968 Austin 1800 Mk1 auto (my 5th)

Today involved a final fit check of my ARB air compressor into the LH rear quarter panel space. Looking good so far pending final wiring and plumbing. Had my neighbour weld the mount plate to the old tow bar holder bracket. Planning on using power from 30A line to trailer (only use compressor rarely) and have air line floating inside compartment. Open cover and connect as required with a local mounted internal switch.

You inspired me. No-one seemed interested in fitting an ARB compressor there. I removed that compressor from the same location in my D2 and it had been there for years. Still like new.

I'm thinking I might move mine from the space in front of the cranking battery to this spot in the boot, and then move the winch controller to the space in front of the cranking battery. I also have one of those trailer LED light rectifier units in there though too but no aircon stuff. Hopefully there'll be room

Plenty of room without the rear AC fan etc, i could have arranged it a bit better if i had removed the trim but i got it all in there.

Spent the weekend cleaning Bug guts and Road grime from the D4 after a short 6,785 kms trip.
2 chips to Windscreen (thanks Road Trains), fixed up by the oh, oh, oh people.
D4 went amazingly well...10.3L / 100 over the entire trip (pretty close to GVM also). No issues at all.
Did see a bazillion white Toyotas, with and without Caravan...did I miss the "special sale" on these?; only 4 Landrovers outside of metro areas.
