Tombie - who supplied the air struts and do they still have the LR logo on them or had this been ground off?

Advanced Factors for the rears, Rimmer Bros for the front - Both BWI, ground of logo and Made In UK on assembly and boxes.

On a side note... What idiot decided to make the rear upper arm brake line holder SOLID..
Oh well, time to add some HEL brake lines to the list

Thanks for confirming - must be a licensing or warranty issue with selling OEM LR parts via a non-JLR distributor. Mine were the same.

Looking forward to hearing your view on if they perform as good as new (having never driven a new D3/D4 I can’t comment if it was as good as new, but certainly better than the old set I removed).

I got home after a long weekend down south to find my GPS repeater waiting in the letter box. I also had purchased a FAKRA splitter cable, adapters and a DC block, so I split the existing Landrover Nav GPS antenna and fed that into the repeater. Initial tests are pretty awesome.

I need to improve the cabling a bit and maybe grab an SMA extension coax, but the dodgy hookup for testing works well. In the diag screen on the NAV you can certainly see a drop in RX level on the inbuilt GPS of about 3% with the split in place, but doesn't appear to cause any issues. The inbuilt GPS antenna is pretty awesome anyway.

Dash cam and iPhones pick up the GPS immediately. The dash cam used to take up to 5 minutes to get a lock.

    Please sir BradC,

Can you explain a bit further on your GPS setup and why?

Photos, diagrams and interpretive dance videos appreciated. I am curious as to the need and uses of a GPS repeater.

It's pretty simple really. The vehicle is a Faraday cage. A GPS receiver needs a clear view of the sky. Under the windscreen level with the front of the dash it hasn't got that. Couple that with a heated front screen and the internal GPS view available on the inside of my windscreen is crap. Sure, if I put my device up against the front of the screen it's better, but it's also further away from me, more exposed to the sun and harder to operate.

When I met BMKal earlier this year he talked about this mythical device ($32 on E-bay) that would solve the problem, so I ordered one. It comes with a little "patch" GPS antenna to mount outside and the transmitter to mount inside. After I ordered it I went "hang on, there's already a perfectly good amplified GPS antenna in the car" so I ordered some more bits and bobs in the hope that when the device arrived I wouldn't need to use the extra external antenna. Initial testing this arvo showed that appears to be the case.

I was hoping it would arrive on Friday so I could give it a run down South, because that's where I really struggle. As it is I'll have a play with it in the city over the next couple of weeks. I've ordered an SMA extension cord tonight to mount it properly.

Because both the Nav unit and the GPS repeater want to power the antenna, I put a DC block in line with the GPS repeater. I'll pull it to bits this week and see if I can remove the power feed for the antenna to remove the need for the DC block.

I also have a new FAKRA splitter cable that has a different configuration, so once I have it as simple as I can make it I'll post some pics and links to the bits I used. Total cost so far < $100.

I'm also waiting on a cheap external GPS receiver so I can measure and quantify the sat reception with the repeater on and off. Lady Heather is good for that as it gives you a nice "picture" of the satellite constellation it's receiving.
