Much searching hasn’t revealed where it’s gone.
I think it may have gone to another time and dimension.
Perhaps I need a sonic screwdriver to find it.

And there we have the Three Musketeers - if you include my 8mm socket

It’s like the bloody twilight zone in there. Next time the body comes off I expect to find the lost 10mm sockets jammed in the insulation for the crossover pipe. There’s at least 2 somewhere in mine.

Ordered a GAP BT tool for Christmas.
Have the Nanacom as it covers both our D2 and D4 but the D2 is not long for our ownership so moving on.

    Hi,
Did you order the gap tool locally or from the manufacturer? I am looking at getting one myself.
    Thanks

    Snorkel fitted.

3 hours my arse. I was going strong and left drilling the A pillar until last. Must say that an air saw made quick work on clearing out the sheet metal to the air box. My new favourite air tool I think. 3 hours up to this point so feeling comfortable. Then….

    Drilling the A pillar:
Impact cobalt drills - didn’t touch the metal.
Normal HSS drills - as if.
3+ Additional hours and still no hole.
Headed to a specialist supplier for a solid carbide bit. Nil stock.
Got a call from my neighbour, a fitter and turner by trade. He had a go to no avail at first, then the post man (person) turned up with a facebook purchase of these (or similar) from an impulse buy last month:

Was a cheap purchase so he thought he would have a go. 3mm drill at high speed and let it rip.
Worked a treat. Still took a while to drill 4 out of 5 holes (last one walked during first attempts). Punched the hole with the 3mm bit, edged up to size with the 5mm (they have a tendency to snap) and then finished with the cobalt 5 mm. They are meant for tiles, go figure.

End result, happy camper on the snorkel.

Followed by running 6AWG from the engine bay to a fuse block in the drivers rear quarter panel pending a dual battery install. Not a bad 2 days.

I ordered from Island 4x4 in UK. Was best price I found. They've confirmed the order and hopefully have stock.

From experience, if their website says they have it they do indeed have it in stock (or are able to lay hands on it within 24hours of your order).

I understand the frustration. Another alternative that may have worked... I found the Sutton INOX Stainless Steel drill bits to be good for hard metal. Will take a lot of pressure and need cutting fluid and patience. 5mm x 86mm INOX Stainless Steel Jobber Drill Bit Sutton Tools D1850500
