Let's Just Drive up this Track for the Night

Well, you see, it had been raining all day and we didn't really want to go to a caravan park. We had driven along the Sturt Highway through heavy rain and lightning and turned into a track just before Hay that apparently led to a camping spot.
Immediately upon entering the track we realised that it was a bad move as the mud simply clung to the tyres (Pirelli AT+ on original 19" rims) but there was no turning back! Shifted to Low Range (DSC off). Saw a shed in the distance and thought there might be a way to turn around there. There sort of was, but the Tvan just jacknifed in the mud as I tried to back up, so I straightened up and took a walk in the dark to see if I could turn around off the track. I worked out where I could do it, but the wiser half suggested we just camp there on the spot.
This made sense as the rain had stopped and the wind would dry the surface a bit overnight.
Next morning, I scraped the mud off the tyres, dropped the pressures to 25/27psi and did a simple U-turn without issue.
The track was still astonishingly slippery on the way out. I tried a few different Traction Control settings as an exercise. I actually wanted to pre-load the centre diff which I think Rock Crawl did, but in the end I just settled for Low Range, Normal mode with DSC turned off and manually selecting gears.

    Added a Ladder

I installed the Eezi-Awn K9 Ladder. Bit fiddly as I couldn't get one of the nuts on a bolt off due to it spinning around so I had to get the grinder out.

The ladder is very light but feels solid so I'm pretty happy with it.

Same as the end of June last year when we had planned to camp just off the Stuart Hwy at Newcastle Waters. Great plan, great spot -but just like you it had rained. The track was fine but when I walked off it to check the camping spot my thongs were exactly like your tyres! We continued on past Elliott (where it was still pouring) and managed to get some gravel space at Renner Springs where the wind blew the rain into the tent of the Kimberley through the zips! .

Glad you managed to get out OK in the morning.
    Cheers, Dale

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Two days in a row and have had the same engine system fault come up. The dreaded P132B-22 fault code - no doubt a sticky turbo actuator. The downside of not using the D3 enough.

Thankfully plenty of good posts to be found here as to how to get access to try and free up.

Not today but 3 days ago while we were driving the South Coast Hwy from Esperance to Raventhorp towing our van the vehicle suddenly went into into a limp mode thing and a message came up re restricted performance with the red triangle on the dash.
Only very light throttle kept it going until I could pull over and I could hear the cursing from those following..."Bloody Land Rovers mutter mutter".
Luckily I always take the Gap tool and I pad on long trips and was able to clear the fault and off we went again. Happened a couple of times but then nothing until yesterday a 100 kays or so out of Kondinin on the way back to Perth. I've never had to use the tool in the past since buying it soon after getting the D4, but was well and truly thankful that it was one thing I didn't forget to pack into the car before setting off.
Out there in Tojo land there was no way we would have got any assistance except for a long tow back home to someone who would actually look at a Landie let alone be able to fix it.
Booked in with Darren at Aztech4x4 for fixing tomorrow.

I didn't think to take a pic or note of what they were. Just glad I could get going again.

All good. I normally take a screenshot of them before I clear them. Easy to do and good for reference later.
