Currently sitting in O'Briens and the tech came to have a chat. Showed me the genuine LR trim clips, and said "basically out of the factory is the only time these bloody things seal properly, so we put a smear of urethane sealant on them as we install them or we find they tend to weep water in over time".

He said they take a little more effort to remove this way but they never leak. Time will tell I suppose.

Well, what a ****-fight. They used genuine LR clips. They just didn't use the correct set. The A-Pillar set has one clip at the top that is different (smaller). So with the clips they used the top flaps around a bit. Their solution was to "Tape it up for 24 hours while the urethane sets". So tomorrow when I remove the tape, if it's not absolutely bang-on it's going back and they can do it again. This time with the correct clips (Set DHB500400). The lad was nice enough to bring out the nuts holding the wiper arms on and say "these are a little rusty and look like they're damaging the thread on the spindle". I pointed out those nuts (DLP500010) are single use because they are a deformed lock nut (not unlike an exhaust manifold nut) and asked if they had replacements.

Silly question really. I have new wiper arms & blades to put on anyway, so I'll pick up a pair of new nuts.

At least the screen is correct, seated properly and all the bits work.

I used Sika on my clips when I installed them. Never been an issue and have removed them since and redid sika. I have no issue with it but I’m not precious like some. No leaks. Never come free, unlike my wheel arch!

I'm not concerned about the Sika, I'm concerned they used the wrong clip on the top, so the solution is to apply more adhesive and hold it down with masking tape while it sets. Perhaps if they'd used the correct clip it wouldn't have been an issue.

True. I reused mine and applied Sika so the correct clips are in place, just supported by my friend Sikaflex

This month I’ve discovered my engine mounts are likely worn out. When I’m crawling at idle in traffic, sub 10kph typically, the car vibrates quite a bit, enough to make the stupid rattly left hand middle row seat rattle. When stopped it’s fine. When driving off idle it’s fine. Just rumbles at idle at a crawl.

Dammit. Remembering Eric’s experience they’re expensive to have changed.

I've decided to take the cowards way out and ordered the correct clip set. I'll do it myself. I had to do an order for LR-Direct anyway for some service bits, so I added that to the order as it didn't bump the shipping up.

Oddly enough, I believe my last windscreen was perhaps "non-genuine". It was a heated Pilkington Optikool, but it didn't have the landrover logo. This one is the same, but has the landrover logo on it.

Had a week of skiing in Perisher last week. This on Friday.

Does anyone know if there is a way to 'park' the wipers vertically ? I found a method which stops them vertically to replace the blades but then goes back to the normal lower position as soon as you turn off the ignition.

Plumbed in the Anderson wiring for my trailer through the rear RHS taillight to my fuse block. Bit of a bugger and noticed I have broken one of the tail light studs. Does anyone know if these are procurable?

Good one shown installed, broken laying on side missing top knob. 😂 knob! Probably should grow up now. 😂 Nup. Snigger.
