Simple matter of opinion, no need to be a dick.

My mechanic has been great at fitting me in to do little jobs, often while I wait, and at finding weird noises which I'm sure if I went anywhere else they'd think I'm crazy. One was the EGR making a buzzing noise at about 1200 rpm on my D2, he spent about an hour with it idling on his driveway and the other was a little noise on the D3, which I don't think he could even hear, but because he knows me, he persisted and found the viscous fan not working properly.

IIRC he found a soft coolant hose while diagnosing the EGR fault, and I asked if I could leave it to the next service, and he said no, ordered the part that day and fitted it the next week.

It’s quite satisfying to me driving at one hundred and ten (argh emojis) kmh and thinking only a few weeks ago that every piece of the suspension and brakes was on the floor and yet nothing is falling off yet. These are not thoughts I share with SWMBO though.

Found an authorised engineer that has agreed to my plans for a GVM GCM upgrade on the D4

Its taken a while to get to this point, now its just a matter of finishing the conversion and inspection.

    Low oil level.

Today I was driving along and the low level oil warning message popped up. Red triangle. Luckily I carry a little 1litre bottle in my car. waited 10 minutes and did the oil check and it was showing half full! Never used oil before 15Ok on clock. Put oil in and it went to just past 3/4 full, I drove about 19kms and the light came on again. As I was near pub for lunch i pulled in and waited 10 minutes. Went out and check just past 3/4 full. Driving home after 50kms the light came on again. When I got home I put in another 500ml and the dash said now full of oil. I am concerned that the sensor maybe faulty, Tomorrow I will drain the oil and measure how much.I am concerned I may have overfilled the the car so thats one way to check. Also I cannot locate the sensor in the car manual. Any ideas which page? If it is the sensor how hard is it to change. Thanks

Have you looked underneath for sign of serious oil leak?

The oil level sensor is inside the sump, so quite a job to change it.
