Thread: What happened to your D3/D4 today?

indeed and there is a VIN specific recall by Ford due to that cam issue, shame LR did not do same for the crank and oil pump issues!

That'd be awkward to arrange. D3 until D4 2.7L crank and oil pump, then D4 3L until D5 & end of manufacture crank. One would hope they have it sorted for the Ford Ranggas, but they don't. As far as I can tell, the 2.7L D4 is the only vehicle not to grenade without warning.

After much soul searching I have decided to keep my D4. The D5 just seems so noisy and the rear seats do not lay flat. I really wanted a RR Sport but the tow pack now includes a hide away tow ball not a square hitch!! FFS!! So looking at RRSport electric seats so I can have the arm rests. Issue is all the seats that I have seen are not the same stich pattern as mine. So what year RRsport should I be looking for? Then one wrecking yard said if all you want are the arm rests just buy some wrecked seats unscrew the arms and fit to my seats. Evidently they are a bolt on the side of the seat frame. I can feel a round hole in the sponge on the side of my seat but wonder is there a welded bolt on the frame. Any one here know? thanks. My Car is 2016 May build D4 Graphite

While I don't think it can be specified in the build configuration you can ask the dealer on ordering to request the deletion of the useless 'goose neck' POS they come with by default and instead fit the Australian Receiver Towbar Kit.

Why you have to specially request this when a factory Australian towbar is available is beyond me.

It was only when I went to order the car that I asked to see the tow bar. I then asked about fitting a tow hitch. Cost was $6000 I stopped and thought this is stupid. Paying $250K and then extra for a hitch mount. I went away and looked up tow bar places. Rand a few and they said since 2023 they have not designed a hitch to fit the new model. Hence I went down the other path. Thanks for showing me this. I will truy and establish cost and fitting for new RR Sport.

mine got new wipers all round!

geez they are getting expensive...
