Today I blew a brake light bulb. No errors, just a mate telling me my right brake light was out. This is why we carry spare bulbs.
Yesterday hauled the tin tent to Denmark. Ambient was only about 26, but saw coolant temps of 110 and oil temps of 130. First time I’ve ever really heard the fan in action on the road. Hearing an odd noise from the front end, only under load (accel or decel). No noise with the clutch in and coasting. Noise is road speed related rather than engine. Hope it’s not the diff getting noisy.
Might drop the oil when I get home and have a look. Probably due a change anyway.

So it was fortunate I decided it’s time to replace the radiator![]()

When Volvo moved to plastic radiators the conventional wisdom was replace them every 7 years. Did that and never had an issue. The Discovery radiator is exactly the same construction and plastic. We religiously replace the coolant outlet, yet that coolant goes straight into the radiator tank at the same temperature.

52 was my record in the UAE in the car and 48 on the bike. I bought one of those little combined thermometer/compass things for the car not long after I go there. I went out to the car one day and the thermometer was wound off the clock inside the car. The graduations stopped at 70C. I chucked it out and just didn’t want to know after that. That was leading into summer.

Yep. The junction that the top outlet feeds into is also plastic and yellowing so they’re being changed too. They’re coming from AliExpress. The bottom one seems okay. As you say, it’s definitely temp related so all the top ones are sad. The rest of the hoses seem fine though.
With the block inlet sorted with a new hose, that’s good. I think that’s most of the risky ones sorted.
