    Audio has no sound

This morning I have no audio in my RRS. The unit displays as per normal and I can change modes, etc but no sound comes out. Equally I cannot change radio stations. The CD player doesn't seem to be reading the disc either (time either doesn't progress, or races through). Phone doesn't work either. No fault codes (cleared anyway). Ignition cycle did nothing. It was working perfectly last night. Any thoughts?

Thanks Mike I was just then chatting to my Indy on an unrelated matter and he suggested the same thing. I didn't think of that. These modern things take a bit of getting used to. I'll pull the fuse later today and refit and see if It comes good. At work, so on the clock...

    No worries at all.

    Full hard reset.

Battery terminals off, touch together, wait and refit.

    Sorted

So I came out after work and it had fixed itself. It just needed a bit of quiet time to reflect apparently... *sigh* I prefer dealing with the greasy bits. They make way more sense to me. Next time it'll be straight to electro shock therapy.

Same. When mine did it I found that locking it, leaving it to go to to “sleep” then restarting and it sorted itself.

When battery voltage is low (and not necessarily a dud battery) the car does go into some power saving modes. As far as the radio is concerned the initial action is to reduce max volume to about half, the next level is the radio comes on with full functionality except there is no volume, the next level the radio does not come on.

I had this quite a few times with the previous battery and the radio always came good after the engine had been running a while or when switched off the and the residual charge in the battery had risen a little.

So the battery may have just been down a little - short trips, parked and listening to the radio, left internal light on - who knows but in my case it was battery never did actually die but slowly faded away - never had the issue with my new battery but I do longer trips these days.

Thanks Garry. Good suggestion, but I discounted this as I have the excellent Traxide system with known good batteries and the vehicle does a 50km+ each-way trip daily. Battery monitoring shows that both batteries remained above 12.8V in the 24 hours prior to this issue occurring. It's one of the reasons I got Tim's dual battery system.... to remove many of the spurious issues you see if the power feed drops a bit. Feeding off both batteries it is super-stable.
