It is feasible that the new fob batteries are poor quality. Possible they were old stock? Have you had the steering column shroud apart, eg for installing switches? This is unlikely I think but maybe the key thing in there got damaged or a wire crimped.

    hi Mate
sorry for the delay - travelling around aus.

The batteries are unlikely to be the culprit, reason being they were less than a year old anyway so it seemed unlikely to be the battery but to be sure i replaced them both again. Additionally, usually you get smartkey low battery warnings, also it still unlocks from 20m away so no problems throwing the signal.

Any other ideas? its got me stumped.

There has been no playing with the wires under the steering column.

I know the system you are having issues with differs from a D3 but...

What is your starter battery like? When mine was on its way out I had all sorts of errors raise their head and the audio controls on the steering wheel did some crazy things.

It is probably not the issue in your case but a test of the battery voltage before start up one morning won't cost you anything.
    Cheers, Dale

Try pulling the fuses to the KVM and the antennas, in the fuse panel behind the glovebox, F1, F17, F37, F61, give it a few minutes and put them back in.

It might reset / kickstart the KVM. If it does you might have the same problem down the track again, it'll only be a temporary fix.

Software updates for the KVM are very limited now, the official updates will load the "read only" software into the module which prevents additional keys being programmed.

If it's possible to reload the same software version, or only one revision forward, that would be as far as i'd go. Before you flash it please post up the software version numbers, anything starting with FK72 will lock the KVM.

Mine has done this off and on over the years, my money is on the starter battery not being optimal. Things like a fridge running and doors being opened and closed constantly effected mine lots.

Thanks, I have tried pulling the fuses today, I will monitor over the next two days to see if this helped.

I've started looking at the software options via Genisis/nanocom and it looks like there are a stack to choose from, can you help drive me in the right direction?

    Keyless start:

There are 113 entries in total for flash downloads

(assuming they are in order from oldest to most recent)

    1) The existing flash in my car is about 15th on the list
    2) The first FK72 appears about 77th on the list
    3) The last 30 odd on the list are a mix of FK22 and GH22

Given there are still 60 options between my existing one and the FK22 - any suggestion of which to shoot for?

    Thanks

Whatever the version in your car now, the next one up would be what I would try.

The flash is meant to just be a re-boot, fix any corruption, not to update.

But if i'm not mistaken there are multiple files that are loaded to a KVM, three or four at least plus the bootloader...

Sorry to hear that josh. I haven’t don’t the flash yet, constantly on the move with our trip so it gets pushed down the list but was saying just today its still annoying me. I’ll report back if it fixed it
