Very interested in feedback on this as well. First time it has happened to me this weekend. Turned the car off and back on and the message and the red triangle went away, hhmm!!

						SupporterI have an odd error
when driving the car will often (50% of the time) show an error saying smart key not found.
it happens while driving and doesn’t go away until I turn off and restart the car.
however nothing else is affected and the car locks and unlocks as usual. I get this error with both keys and have replaced the batteries on both as well just to be sure.
Apart from the red warning it really has no effect on me but worried it might progress to not starting or locking at some stage in the future

Just arrived: 2012 D4 3.0 HSE, the journey begins again ;-).
Gone: 98 Disco 300tdi Auto, and some extras
Just use the stupid key.....
None of my vehicles have any problems with the keys
check for interference or a damaged antennae/fob. It might also happen if you have both keys sets in proximity at the same time.

SupporterMine did it when it was new,and it wouldn't start on occasions. The message also came up at times while driving, and when the passenger door was opened, while the engine was running.
There was a software update and it is is a similar year to yours. But its strange its taken all these years to rear its head on yours?
So something else may be wrong,do you have the spare fob?If so maybe use it for a while, see what happens.
There is no antenna for it,the receiver is under the steering wheel,on the steering column.

SupporterThanks Paul, I think I might have seen your previous post on this topic before submitting mine. I’ve not noticed any connection with the passenger door but will be more aware now.
the spare FOB gives the same problem but keeping it close by at all times just in case

SubscriberI’ve had two fobs in the car at the same time when on hols and never had this error so disregard that.
I looked in the manual a while back and there are a number antennas in the car. There is a mesh in the back to detect when you leave the key in the boot to stop you locking it in there. There were a few around the cabin to map out the interior proximity. There is a transponder loop under the dash where you can place the key in the event of a flat remote battery that will allow you to start the car.
Personally I’d go with the mentioned software update as I just can’t fathom how the antenna mesh could fail.
