Then definitely don’t entertain Maxxis 980. Rugged but noisy.
Looking forward to hear the responses. All I’d say is some say the Maxxis aren’t noisy, so the term “noisy” is very subjective.
Considering a set
HATE noisy tyres.

Compared to what? Typical of an all terrain tire.

Whilst the LT245/70R17 Duratracs that I had on my D4 didn't howl, they produced too much noise for me especially on coarse gravelled bitumen to use them except when their traction might be needed. I got sick of changing wheels so for my L322 compromised with the milder and much quieter Pirelli AT+, albeit at the expense of some hardiness and mud traction.

The Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's on my D2a are a bit noisy But that is an easy fix, I simply wind the windows up
I have found that usually the quieter the tyre the less use they are off road So I am quite happy to put up with a bit of road noise in a 4WD because that's what I use them for.

Run Duratracs on my LVs. Yes they hum.
I've 3 different brands on at the moment so I don't know which brand is the noisiest, the Cooper Discovery ST Maxx appears to be noisier.
funny it is purported to have some sort of sidewall armour, but it is not black and when scrubbed when washing the car, still doesn't look black like the others...interesting.
the others are Falken and Bridgestone

SubscriberWell given the pricing I’m seeing is over $100 a tyre more than the Maxxis, and they sound like they’re similar on the road noise front (similar bold tread pattern so not surprising), I think I’ll stick with the Maxxis LT. I briefly did toy with switching to the Duratrac.
