True DJ, I haven’t checked recently if Simmons do a rated 19” to suit a 3.0l, somehow I doubt it. I’ll stick with my LR rims. I like the HSE version btw.

ive done 198,000km on 19”rims, I’ve run wranglers, Cooper Zeons and now Maxxis LTs, been everywhere on all types of roads and surfaces, no issues. Tyre pressure and rotation is key. I get about 70k kms from a set of tyres before I replace them.
How did you like the Zeons compared to the Maxxis?
I 'spose because you didn't buy another set of Zeons, that answers my question!
    Maxxis not too noisy?

My experience was Zeon’s are quiet compared to Maxxis but have weak sidewalls, not something you want in a 19”. I hate my Maxxis for noise but love them for durability and sidewall strength.

No a bit of noise doesn’t bother me, it’s not that bad anyway. I don’t like all the little splits there are down between the tread and 1 tyre was found by the tyre fitter to be porous and leaking out of them.
That was replaced at about a third of the cost of a new tyre by Maxxis. They’ve been on about 45K now and I doubt I’ll get anywhere near 70 out of them.
But as it seems we’ll be going nowhere for a while I’ll just use them down to the limit and then make a decision re 18” rims and tyres.
I have my tyres rotated every 10K as do many others to even up wear and always get 5 at a time.
    Good reading of others experiences.

I am following this thread with interest as we will be getting new tyres within the next 3 months and will be looking for an A/T tyre rather than the current road oriented Pirelli Zero’s.

While some trips will occur in the future the car is a daily driver for the better half on rural unsealed roads and highways and a noticeable increase in tyre noise on the highway will not be well received.

While the Maxxis are top of the list for their LT rating I think they will be too off-road orientated to be acceptable as a daily driver and it good to note that the Coopers are quieter.

Other options we are looking at are the Hankook and Toyo’s which have received good reviews and seem to have very similar tread patterns.

    cheers

You might want to also consider the Pirelli AT+. I find their quietness, behaviour and performance ideal for my usage with nothing else that I've tried getting close.

My car came with them from the last owner and they were a lovely tyre. Good grip and handling, quiet, but I destroyed them quite quickly by catching the sidewalls when off-road. If you don’t do much off-road then I’d definitely consider them.

Not realy. I liked the zeons a lot,i got 70,000km out of them before they got unstable in the wet, four wheel drifts are cool, but not in a 2.6t 4WD with all on board. I went for the MAXXIS as they're at LT rated tyre and we did quite a few trips up north and down south, so i wanted a decemt sidewall rating. Rides a bit harsher and they sre more noisy than a HT but nothing too bad at all. Maxxis are a decent price too. I wanted duratracs, but for our speed and load rating, they're prety exxy.

Yes, if i had a second set of wheels, Id be running the pirellis as a HT tyre.
