I’m guessing the telephone module is faulty taking out the entire system. Geez you’re not having a good run mate, sorry to hear.
Four days ago my stereo sound cut out for a brief while, didn’t think much of it
then past couple of days is happened more and more, it makes a moment of static noise then goes silent
sometimes sound comes back a few seconds later
sometimes sound doesn’t come back and stereo becomes irresponsive
sometimes screen takes time to respond but still does
went to read fault codes and my reader said “unable to read telephone ecu”
also unable to clear “telephone ecu” which I’ve never had before
any clues??
battery should be in good health, not even six months old

Found it.
For others reference. The bluetooth unit is moreso behind the black plastic area than in the C pillar.
Now I have no idea if this is the faulty issue or not, anyone know how to test it?
It has two plugs:
1) looks to be digital coaxil - has a red light coming from one half which occasionally flashes, the other half looks to be the same but showing no red lights - I wonder if both sides should be red? (see pic) and if it should flash or not.
2) large computer style plug, only two wires into it - all looks normal
Any tips on how to confirm this is the issue would be great.

thanks
That’s an optic fibre cable. It’s reasonable to assume one side is send and one is receive which is why there is only a light on one side. Beyond that I haven’t a clue

I found a great video on YouTube from powerfuluk which explains the MOST bus fiber optic circuit well.
essentially anything on the MOST system which plays up will affect the whole system, but as there are a number of modules (CD player, Bluetooth, sat nav, amplifier etc) its hard to know which one is playing up without removing them individually.. sooo
I have bought a bypass loop for $15 on eBay which enables you to take the fiber cable out of each module and plug this loop in so the circuit continues. i hope that when I remove one of the modules the stereo starts working again and I’ll know that’s the module which needs fixing
the reason I haven’t jumped straight to replacing the Bluetooth module is because The sound cuts in and out and sometimes very fast almost like it’s a self resetting fuse which is triggering it
the faults I have had and symptoms are so varied, best start with a $15 item and work my way up but I still think it’s going to be the Bluetooth item in the end as initially suggested
will update once this bypass loop arrives
good work, my bluetooth is not working and I cant justify $800 to replace it. So I'll be waiting on your loop idea as my radio also does what you have described.
