Is this a guessing game or are you asking what’s suitable for your 3.0L? There are endless threads on the topic but if you seek oils that meet the Ford specification listed in your owners manual you won’t go wrong.

I mix between Penrite Full Synthetic 5W-30 and their HPR5 5W-40 “extra ten”. They both meet the Ford spec but the Fully Synthetic 5W-30 is the perfect match for non-DPF vehicles.

Penrite have a free easy to use Lube Guide available on their website at Penrite Australia - NetLube just put your vehicle details in there and it will spit out the correct product from their range that suits the manufacturer specifications. Easy and avoids all your doubt and confusion of this thread.

While I usually default to Penrite we run Castrol Edge in our two MY12 D4 2.7 TDV6 as this is the oil recommended by Land Rover (usually manufacturers don't specify the particular brand and model of oil so I took notice). If this interests you then use the Castrol Lube Guide at Castrol Oil Guide and Oil Selector | Castrol Australia | CASTROL AUSTRALIA and/or Castrol Australia - NetLube .

LR has had a long relationship with Castrol.
They refer to it as a partnership.
Nothing to “pay attention” to at all.

One dealer I know wouldn’t use their oil as they had a better supply deal elsewhere. Another only uses the later oil (C1) in any of the Diesels 2.7/3.0 etc

It’s not likely that your vehicle got exactly what the LR book specified every time.

I wouldn’t be using Castrol over Penrite that’s for certain.
