    Penrite 5w-30 C1 or C4

    Hi Everyone,

I have been looking through a lot of threads on changing the oil at home at an intermediary 12,000 kms.

A lot of the threads refer to Penrite 5w-30 which is the same as what our indie uses but I am not sure which spec and they are closed for the Christmas break. In the old threads some refer to C1, Enviro+ C1, C4, Enviro+ C4 or just Enviro+. A check on the Penrite website gives preference to Enviro+ C1.

Is there something about the Enviro+ C4 that I have missed, otherwise I’ll be buying the Enviro+ C1 while the Boxing Day sales are on at Repco/Supercheap etc.

    cheers
    Jonathan

Are you referring to the 2.7 or the 3.0? I don’t know but I’m watching this thread with interest

    You wouldn’t run either of these in a 2.7 Penrite 5w-30 C1 or C4

    If you have a 3.0 with DPF - Enviro+ C1

If you do not have a DPF - Full Synthetic 5W-30 (or at Repco Vantage Full Synthetic 5W-30)

    It’s a 2012 SDV6 without the DPF

    Thanks for the info Tombie.

Do you know of why the C4 is also used?

Have a read of this https://www.google.com/url'sa=t&sour...vo6FIDYac1FbZq

    I've run Penrite 5W30-C4 in my MY11 SDV6SE for the past 86,000km

Different HTHS level. Both are low SAPS (low Phos and Zinc levels to protect the DPF)

I am guessing that with the linked document being about 4 years old that is where everyone used to refer to either Enviro+ or Enviro+ C4 and that the Enviro+ C1 is a newer product and why it does not appear as much in the older posts.

    Thanks for the extra info.

    cheers
    Jonathan
