Nope. Not even close. So much work that the 3.0 would be cheaper.

Different injection, different loom, different ECUs
Engines aren’t even same angle V!

You can get new cranks etc and go the rebuild option.

Well you could bring the entire engine and engine ecu plus engine harness and others required(). Nightmare I expect and unlikely economical. We’ll see I guess.

For a 10 yr old vehicle would it be worth doing, economically?

The cost of the job would be not far off the value of the vehicle.

Transmission ECU & the actual transmission,
    Exhaust system (front sections)
    Radiator
    Intercooler

Endless list. Would be nightmare stuff.

Because the alternative is a big spend.... and the car may be perfect in all other aspects.

All other parts for a conventional rebuild are easily available.

Makes sense. How much for a rebuild?

Sure if the vehicle is low mileage, very good condition,DIY,makes sense. And if the owner wants to keep it for a few more years.

But presumably most at that type of age, many probably high K,s,are up for a lot more than just a crank and a couple of other parts.

Getting someone to do the job, would be well over $20K,so decisions need to made if it’s viable.

What is the vehicle worth, probably around $20 to $25K,less wholesale. And way less in a couple of years time.

It also depends on the owners own situation, financially and whatever else.

I would like this to be a financially viable option, the vehicle has some goodies; rear ediff arb front locker, long range tank etc but it has 260k on the clock
I don’t have the space and I don’t really have the skills to rebuild myself.

it’s going to be a tough decision, but there might be some stuff become available.
