Unhappy ULP in D4 Diesel tank ;(

I'm guessing that it's not good to accidently put ULP in your Diesel tank (even if it <2L)!!??

    Any recommendations?

What's the best way to drain the fuel tank in D4 - I'm guessing there's no simple drain plug arrangement in these?

Yeah. I wouldn’t stress too much about that quantity diluted across a full tank. As suggested add some two stroke oil and it’ll be ok.

You will have tripped the fuel guard as well so you’ll want to use the stick to unset that else when you fill it’ll be difficult.

Surprisingly, it didn't trip the fuel guard!

Does the two stroke oil trick work ok with these engines?

    Cheers

Did the same in a previous car - Holden Jackaroo diesel. Was more like 2 to 3 litres. Was right next door to the mechanic who had just fixed the power steering. He said fill up (with diesel!) and press on - will actually act as a cleaner/solvent. We did and truth be told, the car did seem a bit better.

Have heard this used to be done/worked ok with the older/simpler diesels but not such a good idea with this era engine?

Reasonable chance you could get a greater level of fuel contamination at a bowser somewhere. They do still sell these cars in Africa, after all.

Haha yeah very true! I think main issue is that ULP will work a solvent/reduce lubrication - I think the fuel pump is probably the bit that will like this least and if that starts spitting out crap then you get issue with injectors and all the rest!...

Like the other posters here, I reckon at this level of dilution you have nothing to worry about.

I know a bloke who used to run a paper truck in SW NSW. He would regularly run a 1% ULP mix for "better performance"

He eventually had an early rebuild but reckons the added oomf was worth it.

I don't think a couple of litres in a full tank will cause any issues. Take if for a good drive and refill for greater dillution.
