Outback Accessories D4 rear bar reverse sensor issue

Hello, has anyone had issues with Outback Accessories? We recently had their fuel tank, rear bar and tyre carrier fitted to our D4 by Opposite Lock.

The rear bar is meant to be compatible with the OEM reverse sensor. However one sensor keeps picking up the tyre carrier, when Opposite Lock contacted Outback over the issue, Outback apparently advised that they've never had a problem and it must have been fitted wrong, then stopped replying to Opposite Lock enquiries. I emailed Outback Accessories to ask how the sensor could be fitted wrong, but have had no reply.

In the end Opposite Lock disabled the offending sensor, but I am disappointed in the Outback Accessories after sales service and feel I didn't get what I paid for.

Has anyone else had sensor issues with Outback rear bars?

This is a topic that search is your friend for. You can apply some adhesive patches to half the offending sensor so it hides the wheel carrier and doesn’t leave you with a blank zone in your reversing sensors (well a not as big blank zone anyhow)

Hi DiscoJeffster, I did try a search but I was specifically looking for information on the Outback bar, to see if I was on my Pat Malone with the issue. Just when you buy and and are told the sensors will work.... Kaymar sell a sensor kit to replace the OEM sensors. I discussed with Opposite Lock fitting that. But they suggested I would still have the same problem.

Opposite Lock used a similar method to what you describe but blocking the whole thing.

    Cheers Eric
