Depending on design, the rear Main in particular may not be accessible.
From memory, the Mains are the 'problem' according to the Service bulletins??
I had mine done, both mains/thrust and conrod however I believe it was engine out as they also replaced the rear main seal etc. Thrust was twice the factory tolerance out of spec, out of interest.

I'm really not sure, I didn't get any further in research then, crap the diff needs to come out. I probably opened another beer after that and moved on.

    3.0 engine

ok so after further checking crankshaft pulley has heaps of movement so the engine is coming out. Does one have any information about removing the body on a disco 4?

14 bolts connecting body to chassis and 1/2 dozen connectors and youre good to go.....oh and you need a hoist with enough headroom plus a decent engine hoist.
When mine was off (turbo replacement), there was a bit of hassle with the bull bar getting in the way. If youve got one fitted to the car youre repairing, I'd be removing that first.

Search AULRO, same process as a Discovery 3 with a few very minor changes.
Search youtube, (aztech 4x4) I put up a video years ago on a range rover sport (again same thing) it will give you the general idea.

*Plenty of other really good videos with far better detail than what I did.
*Most say to remove the radiator support panel, but if you leave it on its a good guide when lowering the body back on as there are two pins at the top that locate the radiator.

*There are 10 main body bolts...
    Regards
