Had I been standing in the way I’m sure it would have killed me.

    Injector extractor

It scared the absolute bejesus out of me - It was an old Massey 35x and the precombusion chamber covers were always getting some blowby no matter how much I tightened the nuts up so thought it would be an easy job to replace the copper gaskets to fix this. 2 of the 3 came off easily but one was stuck fast - I had no idea how much pressure a diesel builds up in its cylinders until that day. There is a small triangular hole to this day in the sheet of tin on the side of the workshop where it happened - sort of exactly the shape of the below item. Injector extractorInjector extractor

    My first landy (300tdi disco)
Which died the graceful death of being parted out and finally taken to the dump

Wore a solid 15cm diameter ding in the bonnet from number two injector being ejected using a 2.5L crank driven compressor ... of course I layed a leather jacket over it to prevent disaster ...

I imagine without the jacket it would have shot through the bonnet and probably the roof above

    Made a good bang !!!

If the injector is going in the bin it would be a good go to in my thoughts - maybe remove bonnet first and put up some goal posts down range

If he's self employed it's about 2 or 3 rungs below his risk assessment, which would be 'bang on'.

So I used the official extractor - it broke on the first injector as I was tensioning it up and I was only using a 1/4 drive bar with an 8mm socket. I'll be talikng to the tool manufacturer tomorrow.

Sounds like it was made of the same metal they use for the V6 diesel cranks.
