Not wanting to hijack the thread, however on the same subject, can anyone tell me if the changeover of this module is simple and just a matter of unplugging/plugging the connectors, or does the new module require to be configured to the car?
I am thinking of the situation whereby if one was to keep a spare when travelling "outback", and just a simple matter to change over out in the Field so to speak.
My car is MY13 and I can't help but think that I am on borrowed time.......![]()

Had a look through there spares and most of them are for disco 3-4 and rr sport and some 405s.
Think I only saw 4 or 5 bits for early L322, so not much good for me.
Seems to be a legit site tho,but could be wrong.

I can't answer the question about reconfiguring the car, but reading thru the other main thread regarding this topic (8 speed shift lock solenoid problems) seems to me that no it doesn't need anything done. But I may be wrong.
As for the swap out, I pulled my module out in about 30 minutes, and probably took me 10 minutes to put it back. Once you pull the console apart, the module is easily disconnected via a single plug. If you follow Mattblack59bus' comprehensive instruction in the above thread, you won't have a problem. You do have to be 'brave' as one poster said in giving the console a tug to get it out.

I wouldn’t be too critical of a seller who has a 100% eBay rating. It shows that the seller is committed to providing a good service. It’s very rare to see a 100% rating for a seller out of China, but he/ she has obviously earned it after a minimum 186 sales. Buyers can be very ruthless and if a seller slips up, they are likely to be on the receiving end of negative feedback.
Yes, thanks for that and you could well be correct.
I have since found it cheaper out of the UK and is not lining the pockets of eBay, although have decided to install the 'rip cord' for the time being to see how it goes.
I think inevitably will have to bite the bullet and replace the module. When I pulled it apart, I could not see any evidence of failed/failing PCB components as described in Mattblack59bus' write up and the solenoid appeared to be ok. Still possible to be a dry solder joint I suppose.

I would always prefer to go UK over China. Previous experiences over the last 20 mths with uk suppliers has been
Positive but Covid certainly buggered me for a bit, bought a gearbox for my classic and was sent to Austria instead of Australia, there was a prolonged shutdown but I eventually got it. Ashcroft purchases and via dhl were here in under a week.
Interesting, the 2 times the TCM has locked in Park have been after the car had been parked for differing periods of time. The first was for about 4 hours, the second for about 20 minutes. The first time, after a few attempts to move the dial (shutting off engine and turning back on), it engaged. The second time, took a few hours before it would re-engage.
Given this has happened twice, wouldn't that be an indicator of something breaking down and readying itself to fail permanently?
Sorry a little off my original topic, but related nonetheless!
