If as mentioned above you can find a territory motor for $2500, that would be the obvious choice...I didn't you will though, they'd have to be worth similar to the LR one in price.

Thanks to this forum I have a reasonable understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of our motor, I know nothing about the territory motor. Are they reliable? What are its weak points? Are they plug and play with our ECUs?

I need to get back on the road, the sooner the better, and I think that going to a territory motor is severely complicating things in my current situation.

As it is I am looking at at least 7 weeks not going anywhere.

The territory motor is the same as the 2.7 land Rover motor, some ancillaries need swapping between the 2, there is a list on this forum somewhere. The territory one however should have the updated oil pump from factory, one thing I don't know is if the EU3 and EU4 2.7 are the same, i.e. Injectors etc, someone on here will know.

It's perfectly doable, in fact the motor in our D3 is a territory one with about 300k km on it now, taking the car to a grand total of 510k km.... We have had a fantastic run TBH.

Sorry to hear of your issues. My replacement D3 was no where as nice as my original D3 and has replacement engine in it. The damage to mine still bugs me. It was on my front lawn with an empty trailer

Grant Walker Parts ((03) 9762 7233) might be worth a try for an engine IF you can or get some one else to fit it. They refitted mine with out taking the body off. My usual goto place suggested it was to cheap

If I was "stuck" in Hawker for 7 weeks, I'd end up being extremely fat, and extremely poor.

Head over to Flinders food co. and order something from the menu that you've never heard of and enjoy..

Dougal and crew make tremendous meals, as good or better than I've had anywhere.

See, there's always a silver lining... that along with your research into the colour of the bottom of beer cans should go nicely!

Apparently the V6 diesel in the new Ford Everest is a later version of the 2.7/3.0 litre diesels in the Discoveries.

I've been on this forum for nearly nine years and I still get frustrated with the search function

Can somebody point me to a territory engine swap thread please
