The fact you can get more common 'affordable' replacement engines for d3 in form of territory gives it great appeal and longevity.

I recall a certain person, owner of a LR shop I won't name, attempting to install a Peugeot PSA engine in one. Dunno how he got on in the end. I guess Territory engines were harder to come by back then

Not far since the poojo engine is designed for FWD with a completely different bellhousing pattern.

I suppose that would put it in line with the rest of his work.

    Another Option

Just listed on Facebook is a LR3 for 13.5K, engine has been replaced with one that has purportedly only done 47K. Maybe this is another option for a dead motor if you have the perseverance and facilities to part out the parts of the vehicle that are unused doing an engine swap.

This video is very good. For your helpful mechanic in Hawker, I suggest that he views at the video. It will just save SO much valuable time with the engine extraction and refit.
Once the bumpers etc are removed, there are just 10 bolts holding the body to the chassis. You can see that the mechanic in the video, "About the Build" is removing a few of the bolts at 2min10sec.
Thank you for the updates. Your commitment is FIRST CLASS. It will be worth it.
Very best wishes to you on this mission.

    Another option maybe:

Sydney Jaguar & Land Rover Specialist on ebay list a rebuilt engine for $11K

this actually looks really good and my guess is they prolly would do the installation, BUT, I have never got an engine from them and never heard of anyone that has used this business, so I have no idea.
But if someone else was a guinea pig and all went well i'd prolly get an engine from them.
    Regards
    Daz
