    Hot, and quiet.

The town and the people are really nice, however you hardly see the locals. Mind you the last couple of days have been over 40 degrees, and it is the silly season.

But without a car I am pretty much limited to visiting the local general store and the pub.

    Hopefully only another two weeks

Two weeks isn't so bad. Maybe another few days to see how things go before hitching up the house and moving on?

Yes I will venture up to Wilpena Pound which is only about sixty ks from here, and do day trips so I can gain some confidence before doing longer trips.

    Update

The mechanic started back today, Yeaaahhhhhh!!!!

The cause of the problem was the usual, a broken oil pump housing. The timing belt wasn't broken so I can't blame the car yard where I purchased it. Given that I have done about 27,000 ks since I bought it, this would suggest that they did replace the belt. Ironically maybe I would have better off not insisting on them replacing it. I wonder if the old belt would have lasted longer than the oil pump?

The replacement engine has the upgraded pump and new timing belts (front and back), not much more I can do.

I am hoping that maybe it will be finished this week.

The belts would definitely last longer than the pump, my belt looked as new when the pump went before it's first belt change.

Congratulations mate - very happy to hear. If you come down to Adelaide, give me a ring and maybe we can have a cold one.
