I've heard people say the exact same thing about Disco 3/4s...

My experience with Rhino Rack is varied - the awning is great though flimsy, however the previous roof rack was a disaster. Noisy, heavy, and rusted after the first trip away. I ended up returning it.

I can tell this rack is of a far higher quality standard, and worth the extra cash.

How about we ask questions and not be outwardly negative.

After all. It’s his cash to do as he pleases.

Once the air splitter goes on it will look nice and integrated and more than functional I’m sure.

A few floor plates will soon sort areas if needed (just like my original version)

Agree Tombie - a few more 'bits' to really make it look the part. In this, ProSpeed is absolutely at a disadvantage compared to the competition - it feels like they are under resourced for people trying to push out a wide product base. The R&D timelines are hopelessly long and inaccurate.

None of the 'XRS' stuff will fit the new design, so floor plates, jerry holders etc etc are all yet to come. For now, I have a stronger mount point for the awning, and with a heavy blanket's help a way of hauling firewood short distances at camp (boot is full of drawers), so i'm happy enough.

[QUOTE=veebs;3190463]Well, here it is, the first of the new prospeed racks in Australia :-)

Out of interest are the rail mounts a separate bracket that bolts through the rack or welded on to the frame?

I have a frontrunner rack from my previous car that I'll need to work out how to mount at some point. Frontrunner do their own rail mount which I cant use as the rack is not a standard size (cut down to 1.7m to reduce wind noise).

    Nice one

There are two ‘feet’, that are bolted onto the stock rail and front point (two points each)
That then provides the mount points for the flat rack.

The whole thing is made to be as modular as possible - the sides are in pieces for example, bolted at the cross bar points. Very very tight tolerance though - only sit in when you bolt them in.
Anyway, reason for being modular is to cater for a much wider market than previous.

Good to know, might see if prospeed have the rail mounted feet as a separate item. Would be appreciated if you have a photo showing how they attach to the rack.

The car is on its way to Broome at the moment (on a truck). I’ll try to take some better pics when I get her back ;-)

    Finally!

Takes a bit of finessing and fiddling, and the instructions are hopeless, but it’s finally on and silent, as hoped.

Now waiting on the accessories to turn up, and I’ll be done.

It’s not cheap, but the product is solid. The lead times though, are diabolical. Hopefully they build up some stock now to deliver a bit quicker going forward.
