    255/65/R19 Tyres for D4 (2016 model)

    Hi there.

Has anyone had any experience of putting 255/65/R19 tyres on a Discovery 4 (2016)? Do they fit? Any issues getting the spare in ?

Thinking of upgrading from my current 255/55/R19 tyres after having done a sand driving course.

    Cheers

    Nicholas

I think you will find they may be too tall, they are 2" taller than stock size at approx. 32".

They're about the same size as 265/65R18 so likely to fit but have you considered 255/60R19, the D5/L494/L405 19" size? I have 255/60R19 GG AT3 on my L322 which has the same original 255/55R19 as the D4.

255/65 definitely wont fit underneath even deflated.

I looked at various tyre sizes when I changed from 20" rims. Put together the attached calcs for size comparison.

a 265/65/18 (31.6") spare will fit deflated. I went with 265/60/18 (geolander LTs - 30.6") and the spare just fits without needing to deflate.

255/60/19 may be ok but I'd be chatting to the tyre shop to see if they could fit one to check. Alternatively it's an excuse to get a wheel carrier.

I'd also expect rubbing on wheel arches from 32" - would want to have llams/xlifter fitted.

I have 265/65/18's and the spare is wedged tight underneath deflated, good excuse for a wheel carrier.

I have 265/65/18 on my D4. As the tyres wear the spare will fit underneath inflated. What is a real "pain" with any D4 is if the OEM tow hitch is fitted its impossible to remove the spare. Thats why I fitted the Mitch hitch.

My spare now fits with 10-15 psi in it.
